I discovered my passion for playing tennis competitively quite accidentally and quite late in life — even later than discovering my passion for practicing intellectual property law.
As the daughter of two biology professors growing up in a small university town in India, I did not have the opportunity to play tennis as a youngster. There simply was not any infrastructure to even stoke the dream of playing tennis.
Instead, following in my parents' and my older sister's footsteps, I groomed myself to be an academician, coming to the U.S. and earning my doctorate degree in electrical engineering.
