Lowenstein Sandler is pleased to announce that Seramount, now part of EAB, has named the firm a Best Law Firms for Women & Diversity in its annual list which recognizes firms that utilize best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers. Lowenstein was among the 50 firms that earned spots on this year’s list.

Since 1986, Seramount has surveyed law firms to assess the organizations’ efforts to recruit, retain, promote women lawyers, and foster a family-friendly workplace. Subha V. Barry, president of Seramount, says that the firms on this year’s list “recognize the importance of recruiting and retaining this important talent pool and have developed the family-friendly benefits to prove it. All of these combined are important steps toward parity.”

“In 2020, Lowenstein established a Governance Committee that is charged, in part, with identifying and grooming women and other underrepresented attorneys for firm leadership positions,” says J. Danielle Carr, the firm’s Chief Officer of Inclusion. “This committee’s work is just one component of the firm’s wide-ranging initiatives that were put into place to uplift and empower the firm’s talent.”

Lowenstein’s approach to supporting women lawyers includes innovative programs and benefits that assist their professional growth, such as a Sponsorship Program, extended parental leave, a reduced billable hours requirement preceding and upon return from parental leave, a Parental Leave Mentoring Network, and flexible work arrangements such as reduced schedules, flextime, and telecommuting. An additional key element of the firm’s effort to retain and promote women attorneys is the  Women’s Initiative Network (WIN), led by Executive Board member Lynda A. Bennett. This employee resource group supports and empowers women lawyers to achieve professional and personal success by fostering meaningful relationships and offering professional development training that assists women lawyers in developing their careers and flourishing as leaders.

Lowenstein has been consistently recognized by organizations for its best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting, and developing underrepresented lawyers. The firm’s achievements have been recognized by perfect (100 percent) scores for six consecutive years on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, inclusion on NJBIZ’s Best Places to Work in New Jersey, being named a Crain's Best Place to Work in New York City, 2022 Vault Places to Work for Diversity, and receiving the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice's Corporate Leadership Award.

Seramount is a strategic professional services and research firm dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Its 2023 Best Law Firms for Women & Diversity application includes more than 300 questions about attorney demographics at different levels, flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, and development and retention of women and people of color and those from other underrepresented groups. Questions about family-friendly benefits and mentoring and sponsorship participation are also included.
