Lowenstein Sandler is pleased to announce that Armando Castro has joined the firm as partner in its Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC) group. Castro has been a Silicon Valley-based corporate lawyer serving startups and venture funds for over 30 years. He will continue his practice from Lowenstein’s Palo Alto office. He is the 18th new partner to join Lowenstein in 2024, and the fourth new ECVC partner to join the firm in the last six months.
Castro represents clients ranging from formation-stage start-ups to mature public companies, as well as the funds and individuals that invest in and work with those companies. His industry background includes financial technologies and payment systems, cybersecurity, software, pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, renewable energy, enterprise and telecom networking, wireless technologies and semiconductors.
Raymond P. Thek, Vice Chair of Lowenstein’s ECVC Group, commented: “We are very excited to have Armando join our practice. He has a well-earned reputation as a trusted advisor in our industry and his addition to our lineup will allow us to continue to grow what is already a leading ECVC practice.”
Anthony W. Raymundo, Managing Partner of the firm’s Palo Alto office, adds: “Armando will be a huge asset to our startup and investor clients, as well as to our entire ECVC group. We are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”
Castro says, “I am excited to join a firm that is in the middle of such great growth. Lowenstein’s venture deals over the last quarter century have made it one of the major players in ECVC in New York, the San Francisco Bay Area, and nationally. I expect its practice to grow even more over the next few years, and I am excited to be a part of that.”
In addition to Castro, Lowenstein’s ECVC Group recently welcomed John Wayne Horton to the firm’s Palo Alto office, and Leia K. Galasso and Abraham J. Kwon to its New York City office. Ed Zimmerman, who co-founded and chairs Lowenstein’s ECVC Group, says: “The continued expansion of our ECVC practice and the firm overall is a reflection of our strengths and our commitment to further growth.”
Castro, a former CPA and Stanford Law graduate, was previously a partner at Pillsbury, DLA Piper, Reed Smith, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison.
