On an emergency basis, Lowenstein's Real Estate practice drafted a lease for a client’s hotel in North Carolina. The lease called for the hotel to be converted into an emergency COVID-19 quarantine facility for U.S. Army soldiers who were infected with the virus and being airlifted out of bases in Northern Italy. The hotel has been functioning as a quarantine facility since March 20, 2020. The client is an international developer and community builder and the U.S. Army’s private-sector partner in connection with the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) across all of the Army's domestic bases. The Lowenstein team was led by Ted Hunter, Chair of the firm's Real Estate practice.
