The round was led by Connect Ventures, an investment partnership between the talent agency CAA and venture capital firm NEA.
Julie emergency contraception offers Levonorgestrel 1.5mg, an FDA-approved, progestin-only emergency contraceptive that helps prevent pregnancy by temporarily delaying or stopping ovulation. The pill is neither a form of birth control nor an abortion pill; rather, it helps the body stop a pregnancy before it starts and is most effective when taken within 72 hours after sexual intercourse.
Amanda E.J. Morrison is the president and co-founder of Julie. She previously founded and acted as COO of Mented Cosmetics, a beauty brand focusing on empowering women of all skin tones. She brings that successful and innovative approach to healthcare.
Together with co-founders Brian Bordainick and Julie Schott, who previously co-founded the disruptive pimple patch brand Starface, they are bringing their experience from the beauty and personal care world to this new brand with the intention of dispelling myths, changing attitudes, and reducing stigma around emergency contraception.
Julie is sold over-the-counter, and is launching in Walmarts across the U.S. to further its goal of increased access to emergency contraception.
