Lowenstein Sandler has announced that two new partners will be joining the firm: Jason S. Gould, former Assistant U.S. Attorney, has joined the firm as partner in the firm’s White Collar Defense and Litigation practices; and Courtney B. Posner, former General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Echo Street Capital Management, has joined the firm as partner in its Investment Management Group. Gould will be based in the firm’s Roseland office, and Posner will be based in the firm’s New York City office.
“The addition of Jason, with his years of experience in the federal government, and Courtney, who builds upon our highly skilled group of investment management partners with deep experience in the day-to-day operations of private funds, illustrates Lowenstein’s strategic and continued expansion across its key practice areas,” says Gary M. Wingens, the firm’s Chair and Managing Partner. “Courtney and Jason not only enhance the respective strengths of our Litigation and IM groups—they are indicative of the dynamic wave of talent that has been joining us throughout 2024 from diverse geographic regions and practice areas: our new partners in ECVC, Abraham J. Kwon on the East Coast and John Wayne Horton in Palo Alto; our new Bankruptcy & Restructuring Department partners in New York City Daniel B. Besikof, David M. Posner, and Gianfranco Finizio; our new Chair of Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity in Washington, D.C., Amy S. Mushahwar; and our new Environmental partner in New Jersey, Kegan A. Brown.”
Jason Gould
Gould’s practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, government investigations, and complex commercial litigation, with a particular focus on representing individuals and organizations in the healthcare, life sciences, and pharmaceutical industries. His practice largely involves defending, advising, and counseling individuals and corporations facing allegations of health care fraud or violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act, the Controlled Substances Act, or the False Claims Act.
“Jason’s exemplary record in government and private practice make him a valuable addition to our team,” says Matthew Boxer, Chair of the firm’s White Collar and Corporate Investigations & Integrity practices and former Comptroller of the State of New Jersey. “His deep knowledge of government enforcement of federal statutes, particularly in the health care field, makes him a formidable advocate.”
Gould served as Chief of the Healthcare Fraud Unit at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, as well as Acting Chief of its Violent Crimes Unit. Throughout his career, he prosecuted and supervised some of the largest and most complex health care cases in the country, largely involving health care fraud, violations of the Anti-Kickback statute, opioid enforcement, and violations of the False Claims Act. Some of his most notable prosecutions related to fraud and kickbacks involving private insurance and Medicare; nationwide telemedicine conspiracies; opioid diversion and overdose deaths; COVID-related PPE and PPP fraud; and multi-state drug treatment patient-brokering schemes. Gould’s experience also includes securities fraud, insider trading, cryptocurrency, wire fraud, tax offenses, money laundering, and asset forfeiture, among others.
Christopher Porrino, former Attorney General of New Jersey and current Chair of the firm’s Litigation Department, says: “Lowenstein litigators have a strong tradition of balancing public service roles in government with serving clients in private practice. I am thrilled that Jason is joining our trial team and following in this noble custom.”
Before his government work, for over seven years Gould was a litigator at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, where he represented companies and individuals in white collar criminal defense cases, complex commercial litigations, arbitrations, and appeals, including trials for pharmaceutical companies in federal court.
“With accomplished and respected attorneys like Chris and Matt, Lowenstein is a litigation powerhouse,” says Gould. “I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to be a part of it.” He continues: “The firm offers a tremendous platform to represent clients in white collar matters and criminal investigations, particularly in the health care industry, where I hope to expand the firm’s practice.”

Courtney is a very valuable addition to our team, and we are thrilled that she is joining us.”
