Marina Portnova, based in the firm's Palo Alto office, is now Chair of Software & Electronics for its Patent Counseling & Prosecution group. The group includes more than 30 attorneys and patent agents located in Palo Alto, Utah, New York and New Jersey. Lawyers in the group work on more than 8,000 patent and patent applications each year for major tech brands and startups. Additionally, Kevin O. Grange is now head of the firm's Patent Prosecution Center in Utah, which opened in 2016. Now with five lawyers, that office has added significant depth to the firm's national patent prosecution team. The practice continues to score at the top of firms with applications in Technology Centers 2100 and 2400, as well as top firms for business method applications in 3620, 3680s and 3690s. The practice is also consistently ranked as a leader in publications including Intellectual Property Today, IAM's Patent 1000 and Chambers USA.

In addition, the firm named Evan Bienstock chair of Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (fka, The Tech Group)'s Brooklyn Entrepreneurship Center, established in 2014 and located in DUMBO Brooklyn. The Center plays a key role in outreach to entrepreneurs for Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (fka, The Tech Group), which has served as legal counsel to startups, growth companies and investors in over 1,000 venture capital, growth equity, angel and private equity deals in the last two years. The center is currently preparing for its VentureCrushBK event on May 23, 2017. VentureCrush is a nationwide series of events and networks that bring carefully selected groups of tech industry founders and seniors executives together with venture capital, growth equity, private equity and angel investors.
