Lowenstein Sandler was included twice in Juristat’s rankings for top-performing patent law firms in each United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) technology center. The firm was ranked 13th among firms in Technology Center 2100 (computer architecture software and information security) and 18th in Technology Center 2400 (computer networks, multiplex, cable, and cryptography/security).

Juristat’s database of more than 10 million pending, abandoned, and granted patent applications allows the organization to objectively analyze the performance of every law firm practicing within the USPTO.

Their rankings consider both volume and performance. Juristat bases the rankings on how well a firm performed in three key metrics over a 12-month period:

  • Number of applications filed
  • Allowance rate
  • Average number of office actions before allowance

The metrics are based on public applications disposed (or in the case of the first metric, applications filed) between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017, accounting for the 18-month publication delay. To qualify for inclusion, a firm must have filed a minimum of 100 applications in that Technology Center during that time period.
